Ten Lower Dauphin Student-Athletes Make College Announcements

HUMMELSTOWN (November 14, 2014) – Ten Lower Dauphin High School student-athletes announced their college choices where they will continue their academic and athletic careers. In a National Letter of Intent signing day ceremony in the school cafeteria on Wednesday, Nov. 12, the student-athletes, representing three sports made their announcements before parents, coaches, teachers and classmates.

Baseball

Blair Lewis – Blair is the son of Clifford and Susan Lewis. He is a four-year member of the baseball team. Last season he was Mid-Penn Keystone Division MVP and was a member of the team that won the 2014 conference championship. He is an All-American honorable mention and pitched a perfect game in the 16u national championship in July. He is a member of the Ski Club, umpires Little League baseball and volunteers with Diamond Days baseball camps. He will attend the University of Pittsburgh and continue his academic and athletic career.

Field Hockey

Morgan Bitting – Morgan is the daughter of David and Tracey Bitting. She is a captain and four-year starter on the field hockey team as a center midfielder. In 2013 she was named Mid-Penn Keystone Division Player of the Year.  Morgan’s field hockey honors include: 2012, 2013, 2014 Falcon Classic All-Tournament Team; 2012, 2013, 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star; 2012, 2013 PHSFHCA First Team All-State; 2014 Junior National Squad; 2013 Regional All-American, 2013 Second Team All-American; 2013 PHSFHCA Academic All-State Squad, and 2014 NFHCA Academic All-American. She also plays basketball, coaches youth field hockey, is a member of Student Council, and participates on the MiniTHON committee. She has been inducted into the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. Morgan will continue her education and field hockey at Duke University.

Gini Bramley – Gini is the daughter of Harry and Karen Bramley. She is a captain and four-year varsity starter as center back.  She is the 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone Division Co-Player of the Year. Her other field hockey honors include: 2012, 2013, 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star; 2012, 2013 PHSFHCA First Team All-State; 2012, 2013, 2014 Falcon Classic All-Tournament Team. She also participates on the yearbook staff, MiniTHON committee and Relay for Life. She volunteers with Special Olympics as a buddy and is a youth field hockey coach. She was also on the 2014 Homecoming Court. Gini will continue her education and field hockey at Penn State University.

Ashley Ceschini – Ashley is the daughter of Donna Ceschini and Susie Seth. She is a captain and earned two varsity letters and was a varsity starter on the 2014 team as a right back. She also plays varsity lacrosse and participates in the Pennsylvania Youth Apprenticeship Program at the Hershey Medical Center. She is a coach at Red Rose Field Hockey Camp and in the Falcon Youth Field Hockey program. Ashley will continue her education and field hockey at East Stroudsburg University and major in nursing.

Joely Helder – Joely is the daughter of Darren and Marianne Helder. She was a varsity letter-winner for two years and a 2014 varsity starter at left midfield. She was a 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone Honorable Mention All-Star. She is also a track & field standout holding school records in the long jump and 1,600-meter relay. She was the track team most valuable athlete last spring and she holds three District 3-AAA medals. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the MiniTHON committee. She is a buddy for Special Olympics. She is a

Red Rose Field Hockey camp coach, elementary track  coach and Falcon youth field hockey coach. She was a member of the 2014 Homecoming Court. Joely will continue her education and field hockey at St. Joseph’s  University in Philadelphia where she will have a dual major in sports/food marketing.

Abby Julius – Abby is the daughter of Larry and Patty Julius. She earned three varsity letters and started varsity for two seasons as a forward.  Her field hockey accomplishments include: 2013, 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star; 2013 PHSFHCA Second Team All-State; USFHA Futures NFC Selection; USFHA U-19 National Team; Junior Olympics; USFHA Future’s Elite; 2013, 2014 Falcon Classic All-Tournament team; and 2014 USA Junior National Indoor Squad. She is also a buddy with Special Olympics, is a member of the MiniTHON committee and is a Falcon youth field hockey coach. Abby will continue her education and field hockey at the University of Louisville.

Aliza Mizak – Aliza is the daughter of Steve and Susan Mizak. She was a varsity letter-winner for two years and a 2014 varsity starter at left forward. Her field hockey accomplishments include: 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star and 2014 Falcon Classic All-Tournament Team. She is also a member of the French National Honor Society and the MiniTHON committee. She was a member of the 2014 Homecoming Court. She is a buddy with Special Olympics. She is a coach at Red Rose Field Hockey Camp and with Falcon youth field hockey. Aliza will continue her education and field hockey at Millersville University and major in special education.

Maddie O’Neill – Maddie is the daughter of Roy and Irene O’Neill. She was a varsity starter for two years and a varsity letter-winner for three years as a forward. Her field hockey accomplishments include: 2012 Mid-Penn Keystone Honorable Mention All-Star; 2014 Mid-Penn Keystone All-Star; and 2012, 2014 Falcon Classic All-Tournament team. She is also a varsity letter-winner in basketball and track & field. She is also a member of Student Council, the MiniTHON committee, National Honor Society. She is a counselor in Lower Dauphin’s Outdoor Education program and coaches elementary track and youth field hockey. She was a member of the 2014 Homecoming Court. Maddie will continue her education and field hockey at Michigan State University where she will major in kinesiology.

Gymnastics

Morgan Fridey – Morgan is the daughter of Dave and Kelly Fridey. She is a state, regional and national qualifier in gymnastics placing fifth at Nationals as a ninth-grader and fourth as an 11th-grader. She is also a member of the track & field team and was a conference and district qualifier. She is also a member of Student Council, Volunteen and the MiniTHON committee, serving as a captain this year. Morgan will continue her education and gymnastics at Ball State University and major in physical therapy.

Maggie Tamburro – Maggie is the daughter of Robert Tamburro and Patricia Gordon. She is a state, regional and national qualifier in gymnastics and was the regional vault runner-up in 2012 and champion in 2013. She is also a two-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier. She is a member of the Women’s Select Choir, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, English National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, the Science Club and the Envirothon team. Maggie will continue her education and gymnastics at North Carolina State University and major in biomedical engineering.
